Sales and Marketing 2017
In case you haven't heard yet, CAMP's Sales and Marketing event has been re-imagined for 2017 to make it easier on you!  Instead of one two-day event, CAMP is host two one-day events!  One in Walnut Creek on February 3rd (the day after NAMB's On the Road Series at the same venue!) and one in Garden Grove on February 13th.  These events were designed to reduce your airfare, reduce your hotel costs, and take you out of the office for less time.

But we also discovered we could get CAMP members in for FREE if they register more than one week in advance!

For more information on the event in Walnut Creek, click here.  For more information on the event in Garden Grove, click here.  For more information on sponsoring and exhibiting at these events, click here.  If you're interested in speaking, please contact info@thecampsite.org.

FHA Reducing MIP
As we shared in our bulletin last week, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) has announced that loans with a close/disbursement date on or after January 27, 2017 will have reduced annual Mortgage Insurance Premium (MIP) rates on 15- and 30-year loans.  Please find Mortgagee Letter 2017-01 here

One would think this would be viewed as a welcome (if not overdue) change that would help our borrowers qualify and enjoy lower monthly payment.  Right?  Wrong!

Unexpectedly, this quickly became a political issue.  Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee stated "It seems the Obama administration's parting gift to hardworking taxpayers is to put them at grater risk of footing the bill for yet another bailout," said Hensarling in a statement.  "Just three years ago, the taxpayers had to spend $1.7 billion to bail out the FHA.  Lowering premiums to below market rates now only puts the FHA in a more precarious financial condition."

It remains to be seen whether this change will stick under the new administration so lock'em and doc'em while you can!

Dodd-Frank Outlook
While some rub their hands together with glee at the thought of repealing Dodd-Frank, most would agree that adjustments rather than a complete abandonment of the legislation may be a better option. But, as always, there is no shortage of opinions.  Check one out here.
